Finally, we have the character breakdown for Disney/Marvel’s upcoming MCU film, The Eternals.

We’re about to embark on a deep exploration into Marvel’s mythos. The Eternals will change the scope of the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe as we know it. Eternals gives the MCU an opportunity to explore a world vastly unfamiliar to casual comic book fans.

The group of god-like beings was the result of the Celestials experimentation on humans. They have sworn to protect the human race, especially from their relatives the Deviants. Eternals were created by Jack Kirby in 1976 and have a linear connection with other Marvel characters.

According to That Hashtag Show, we finally know which Eternals make the MCU cut.

Druig

Unlike like the other Eternal members, Druig was power hungry. His greed often made him more of a foe than a friend. Druig is immensely powerful and a superior intellect. Similarly to Loki, Druig does help the Eternals when necessary.

Eros

Fans of Marvel Comics know Eros as Starfox, the brother of Thanos. So, his inclusion opens the possibility of seeing Thanos beyond Avengers 4. Unlike his eldest brother, Eros is the embodiment of light. Eros was given the name Starfox by Wasp after he expressed interest in joining the Avengers.

Elysius

Although technically not born an Eternal, Elysius does hold the title. Elysius was created by the Integral Synaptic Anti-Anionic Computer, ISACC, who was created by Eros and Thanos’ father, A’lars aka Mentor. Much of her time is spent on intergalactic adventures. However, she travels to Earth and has a romantic relationship with Mar-Vell.

Forgotten One

History is unable to pinpoint the name of the Eternal who wandered the earth for centuries. As his name suggests, he’s often referred to as the Forgotten One. Some know him as Hercules or the Bible’s Samson. He also goes by another name, Gilgamesh.

In the early days, Gilgamesh was punished and confined to Olympus after interfering with Earthlings. In need of his assistance, he’d be allowed come out of exile to fight the Deviants.

Ikaris

Ikaris is often seen in the forefront of the group. He’s known for his brash attitude and cockiness. Of all the Eternals he’s one the mortal enemies of the Deviants.

Like Sersi, Ikaris walked among the humans and fell in love with a Greek woman long ago. He suffered a great tragedy, losing his son, Icarus to a flying accident. It’s alleged that he took on the name Ikaris in honor of his fallen son.
