19. Fish Mooney

Portrayed by: Jada Pinkett-Smith

First appearance: “Pilot”

Gotham wasted no time with introducing Fish Mooney. Jada Pinkett Smith is a big name for the show. She went all-in on her performance as Fish Mooney and it was interesting to say the least.

I really struggled with where to put Fish on this list. She was a big part of the show, appearing (or being mentioned) in over 25 episodes. She played a prominent role in the first season, returning for several episodes in seasons two and three before meeting her demise. In season four, she was mentioned, but we never saw her after “Heroes Rise: Destiny Calling” in season three.

The main reason I struggled with where to put Fish is because of the fact that she was more interested in running her club and just having goons do the work for her. She did things here and there, but it was more about the territory for her. It always felt like she was trying to be a mob boss without really being considered one.

There’s also no history to go on with Fish Mooney since the character was created for the show. So all we have to go on is what we’ve seen of her here. She was resurrected, but her return wasn’t quite as fulfilling as I was hoping. However, she still did a lot of damage in Gotham when she was around.
