18. Order of St. Dumas

The Order of St. Dumas was led by Father Creel (portrayed by Ron Rifkin). This is a group that has a deep history with some of the founding families. However, it is a religious group that is based on a 300-year old story documented in a book called The Will and Order of St. Dumas.

Religious groups throughout history have had a criminal element to them. You get cults forming that take things to an extreme, and that’s what the Order of St. Dumas does during Gotham’s second season. They wanted to get rid of Bruce Wayne and Theo Galavan manages to abduct him.

The Order of St. Dumas was tied to both the Dumas and Galavan families, which is why it became so prominent with both Theo and Tabitha Galavan in the picture. Silver St. Cloud was also part of the Order because she was a ward of Theo Galavan after her father died.

Silver St. Cloud meets Bruce Wayne and as the two grow closer, it gives Theo a chance to meet with Bruce and fulfill what the Order of St. Dumas wants. However, Bruce doesn’t end up dead and the Order of St. Dumas virtually disappears as Silver and Tabitha became former members and moved on.
