10 actresses who could play Zatanna in the DCEU

5. Odeya Rush

Odeya Rush rush got her big break in Philip Noyce’s The Giver as Fiona. Rush also stared in Goosebumps, where she was funny and charming as Hannah.

Rush was part of the stellar cast in Lady Bird, and she held her own in the critically acclaimed film. She did her best to stand out as Jenna, and she did, and the dynamic between her and lead actress Saoirse Ronan was special.

She’s also set to star in the inspirational Netflix comedy Dumplin’. Because she’s 21, the opportunity to tell Zatanna’s story as a teenager is possible. A dark coming of age story of a magician in search of her parents and the life she never knew makes for a great story.

Rush will allow for Zatanna to grow on screen over the course of a few movies.

4. Alexandria Daddario

It’s safe to say that fans just want her in the DCEU. For one, Daddario is popular choice for Zatanna, among social media faithful for good reason. Daddario is a talented actress, who fans have wanted to see in a comic book movie for some time. There were rumors of Daddario joining Birds of Prey, but, of course, that didn’t happen. So, why not cast her as Zatanna? After all, fans have loved the fan art of her on Twitter.

Like Ana de Armas and Gemma Arterton, Daddario is in her 30s. So, this version of Zatanna would focus on her life long after her parent’s demise. It’ll make for an interesting film to follow a unique journey to rediscovering herself.

In this case, we could see an arc where she’s more of the teacher than a student, like when she took on a protégé, Tim Hunter.
