Daredevil season two introduced new characters to the Netflix fold, but one of the most nuanced was definitely Jon Bernthal’s version of The Punisher. This iteration of the brutal vigilante was now a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and like in the comics, was not a big fan of criminals. Unlike Daredevil and the other Defenders, though, Punisher’s ultimate solution was murder. Lucky were the evil-doers who managed to escape the Punisher’s gun since his path of destruction was nearly unstoppable. That is until Matt Murdock came along.

Of course, Daredevil didn’t approve of the Punisher’s methods so it was only a matter of time until the two vigilantes met face to face. In what became one of season two’s top defining moments, Daredevil and the Punisher got into a grand scuffle, with Daredevil later waking up tied up in chains atop a New York City rooftop.

What came after was one of the best exchanges of dialogue in the entire series with lines such as “you are just one bad day away from being me” becoming memorable. Daredevil eventually escaped his chains and the Punisher went along with his killing spree, but that moment sure made Bernthal’s anti-hero one of the best characters Netflix has ever conceived.
