16. Cable

Who is he?

As a baby, Cable was infected by a techno-organic virus that was going to kill him. Thankfully, Cyclops made the tough decision to send him to the future so he wouldn’t die. Years later, Cable came back older, tougher, and more resourceful than almost anyone in the Marvel universe.

Cable spent most of his time trying to prevent the future he’s from where Apocalypse rules. A future he is actually responsible for. He killed En Sabah Nur in the past before he became Apocalypse; however, his T.O. Virus mixed with his DNA and made it possible for him to survive being shot in the head.

Why this works

All you have to do is go back and look at Josh Brolin’s portrayal of Cable in Deadpool 2 to understand why he’d be a perfect addition to the MCU. He was one of the most violent and dark characters we’ve seen so far. He’s also so serious it’s actually funny.

Even without Deadpool being his comedic buffer, Cable would make a great solo project. Everything about him is tragic. Something fans love. He’s also smarter than people know. He fixes his own tech and seems to always have a backup plan for everything. It would be great to see him and Captain America fight. Or watch him and Bucky having a battle for the best metal arm.
