13. Professor Xavier

Who is he?

Professor Charles Xavier founded the X-Men to bring peace between humans and mutants. This hasn’t been an easy road. Villains like Magneto and his Brotherhood continue to make the appearance of mutants look poor. Kidnapping, murder, and general property destruction are just a few things the Brotherhood has done to ruin the image of mutants. No matter what happened, Xavier never lost hope and continued believing in his dream.

Why this works

You can’t have the X-Men without Professor X. Even if it’s only for a couple of movies and they move away from him. Professor X isn’t the good father figure we’ve seen in the comics. He’s used his telepathy to erase Wolverine’s memories and did this to Cyclops to remove memories of the brother (Vulcan) he didn’t know he had. He even enslaved a sentient being (the Danger Room). When he turned it on it spoke to him and ignored what he heard.

It would be good to see more of that in the future. It’s a different approach to Xavier. Since this is a relatively new thing with the X-Men, there wouldn’t be too much backlash for using this version of Xavier. He definitely needs a new story to keep him fresh and this could do the trick.
