24. Archangel

Who is he?

Warren Worthington the Third looks like a rich pretty-boy with fluffy wings. Once he lost the use of his wings and Apocalypse offered him the opportunity to get them back. Warren ended up becoming something more. He became one of Apocalypse’s Horsemen, brainwashed into becoming Death.

His feathered wings were now metal and could cut through almost anything. He could also shoot out pinions that were diamond hard and some had a paralytic agent in them. Eventually Warren broke the mind control, but not the programming. The change was planted in his DNA. Every so often Warren will lose control and become death again. In Uncanny X-Force he became Apocalypse in a sense.

Why this works

After two movies with Angel, we’ve yet to even come close to what he’s like in the comics.  X-Men: Apocalypse was an embarrassment and should be stricken from the record. Warren as Death is ruthless. Not some spoiled kid who gets powers and looks like he something to prove. A fight with Archangel and Apocalypse going up against the X-Men would be a memorable action scene. Plus, witnessing the process of how Apocalypse transformed Warren would be brutal.
