MCU: 25 X-Men characters who should appear in Phase 4 (and beyond)
By Mark Lynch
4. Nightcrawler
Who is he?
Kurt Wagner has every reason in the world to hate humanity. Despite having the heart of a saint, Nightcrawler is still treated like he’s evil by ignorant humans because he looks like a demon. Regardless of how he’s treated, Nightcrawler still remains a jovial man of faith. And even though his mother is Mystique and his father (Azazel) is an evil mutant who claims he was one of the first of the world, Kurt manages to not let his DNA define him.
Nightcrawler is also one of the few X-Men that’s trusted by everyone and he’s their most reliable teammate. There’s another thing that shows the type of person he is; his relationship with Wolverine. He’s Logan’s best friend and one of the few people he trusts without question.
Why this works
Nightcrawler had one of the best action scenes in all of comic book movies. The way he teleported and attacked looked amazing on-screen. Having that in the MCU would make for a memorable moment. Nightcrawler also has a great personality. His morality combined with his jokes will easily make him fit right into the MCU. It’s actually shocking that he’s never been an Avenger. It won’t be shocking if Nightcrawler is an Avenger in the comic books in the near future.
