21. Bishop

Who is he?

The X-Men have seen their share of dystopian futures. Future’s where the mutants must register and are put into death camps. Lucas Bishop is from a future where he was born in a mutant camp that resembled that of the Holocaust.

Like all mutants in this timeline, Bishop had the letter “M” forcibly tattooed on his face to let the world know who and what he was. Bishop escaped to the past and has spent his adult life trying to prevent his future.

Why this works

To many, Bishop could be a great addition to the X-Men. For me, he’s the best villain we’ve seen in a long time. Bishop was actually waiting for the first mutant birth since M-Day so he could kill her. In his timeline, she is responsible for the death camps and a war was started because of her. When the mutants lost, they were killed or put into camps. Bishop was willing to whatever it took to save the world. Even if it meant killing a child or destroying the world in the process.

Bishop’s power to absorb energy and blast it back works well on-screen. However, it’s his fighting style and attitude that make him a great choice to join the MCU. Even if Bishop isn’t used as a villain at some point, he was a great and popular X-Man. He could also be used as a detective who helps solve cases in mutant community called Mutant Town.
