20. Apocalypse

Who is he?

En Sabah Nur was born in Egypt over five thousand years ago. He’s a mutant that believes in the philosophy that only the strong should survive. Apocalypse, with his Four Horsemen, will test people in battle and find out whether or not they’re worthy to live.

There are realities where he’s won. In these realities, Apocalypse rules while humanity and mutant-kind live under his booted heal. Thankfully, Apocalypse keeps running into the X-Men and, more importantly Cable, and is defeated. Apocalypse has found more than a few ways to keep himself immortal. Among them is taking slumbers that rejuvenate his strength and power.

Why this works

X-Men: Apocalypse did a decent job showing off how powerful Apocalypse is. His powers may not have been completely accurate to the comic books, but he is strong enough to take on the X-Men by himself. What we didn’t get to witness are his speeches.

Apocalypse loves to boast about how strong he is. The good part is, it’s true. He was once woken up years before he would be at full power and was still too powerful for the X-Men could handle. Apocalypse is the classic villain combination of boisterous speeches and dominance. Everything about him would work great on-screen in the MCU. Especially his ability to grow and turn his arms into weapons.
