Review: Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man No. 313

Peter Parker continues his toe-to-toe battle with Morlun at the zoo. Who will come out on top as the other heroes remain in danger?

There are spoilers ahead for Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man No. 313.

Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man has been one of the better tie-ins for Spider-Geddon. This is partially because of how personal this story is. There’s also the fact that this story was more of an indirect consequence to the Inheritors coming back. Morlun has it out for Peter and wants to be sure everyone knows it.

One thing that Peter knows how to do well is take a beating and run himself down. While he’s fighting Morlun, he’s looking pretty ragged. He knows that he’s the only one around who can take care of the problem at hand, so he never gives up. He also never lets anyone else get hurt if he can help it, including J. Jonah Jameson, who provides him with a little help.

Sean Ryan did a nice job continuing the Peter Parker story that Chip Zdarsky left off with. HIs relationship with Jameson isn’t like what we’ve seen in the past. There’s still an ego factor, but it isn’t quite as negative on Jameson’s part. It gives their relationship a whole new light and it’s still continuing to develop.

I’m really enjoying this series and I hope it continues to explore Peter’s personal life more after Spider-Geddon wraps up. Zdarsky brought an old school feel to it while still being able to tell new stories and I think Ryan will be able to continue that outside the confines of tie-in issues.
