Aquaman will rule more than the seven seas, and here’s why.
The DC movies have gotten a lot of slack from moviegoers. Justice League was supposed to be the movie that set up the DCEU for years to come. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment to a lot of fans. One of the bright spots was Jason Momoa’s portrayal of Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman. He added everything that was needed in Justice League. He maintained all the toughness and brutality all while keeping a smile on his face. People may not be excited to see the king of the seas, but I have four reasons why you should get up and go see it.
Mera
People all over the world have been craving more women representation in their movies. And not the damsel in distress. Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel have shown that a female can be a strong lead and get people excited for their projects. Mera may not be the star of the Aquaman, but she is going to show the world how great she really is.
Mera is a strong and versed fighter like Aquaman. The difference between the two is that Mera may be more hot-tempered than Arthur. If she gets in a rage, then it’s going to be a long day for whoever she’s fighting. On top of her strength and skill as a fighter, Mera has the ability to control water. It may not seem like much until she makes the water sharp enough to cut through steel. How about if she drains the water from your body and makes it feel like you haven’t had anything to drink in days? In Injustice, Mera held the tides when Poseidon himself was trying to drown Themyscira.
He does more than talk to guppies
Aquaman is looked at as a joke. A lot of it comes from the earlier cartoons when it seemed like all he did was talk to fish and ride dolphins like skis. In reality, Aquaman is one of the strongest and most underrated characters in comics. He’s superhumanly strong, constant exposure to heat-based powers have left him immune to those attacks, and versed fighter.
Let’s also discuss his ability to talk to ocean life. People joke that he talks to seahorses and guppies. Aquaman can control whales, squids, and even the mythical Kraken. To call him a joke is hilarious in itself. During New 52 Justice League, Aquaman unleashed an onslaught of sharks to take out Darkseid’s parademons. We’ve already seen sea monsters in the trailer. Who knows what kind of other sea life he’ll unleash.
For someone who “Only talks to fish” he seems to be extremely dangerous. We’ve already seen how tough he is in Justice League. Image how great Aquaman will be in his own solo movie. I look forward to see him talking to sharks and kicking people in the face.
