Aquaman and Black Manta’s rivalry makes Batman and Joker looks like child’s play. So who is this Aquaman villain we love to hate?
There’s no hero without an arch nemesis, Batman has Joker, Wonder Woman has Cheetah, Superman has Lex Luthor, and I have fatty carbs. For Aquaman, it’s Black Manta. For decades, these two have clashed. And for the first time, they’ll do so on the big screen.
Thanks to Warner Bros and James Wan we’ll get to see the two enemies battle Dec. 21. The Get Down’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is the man in the suite terrorizing Arthur Curry and Mera in the Aquaman trailers. Fans of DC Comics and casual fans alike can sit back and watch the journey of Black Manta from man to villain.

5. The man makes the suit and one formidable villain
One of the things that stand out with Black Manta is his suite. What casual fans may not know is, unlike Aquaman and other Atlantean’s, Manta doesn’t possess god-like ability. He’s an engineer who designed a suit that grants him an even playing field.
The suit gifts him with superhuman strength and can sustain the pressures of the deep-sea. His helmet has the ability to fire plasma blasts and there’s a device to block telepathy. There’s also the jetpack and the bladed weapons he uses in battle.
