2. Black Manta the baby killer
The dark bloody feud between the two was just beginning. DC Comics’ Death of a Prince painted Black Manta with a dark, twisted brush. It all started with Manta and Arthur Curry’s father but spun into something more sinister.
Manta took his hatred for Aquaman to another level. He kidnapped Aquaman’s newborn son and held him for ransom. In exchange, he wanted Aquaman and his sidekick, Aqualad to fight to the death.
Meanwhile, Manta had the child trapped inside a device that only he had access to. The two heroes did what he wanted to save the life of the prince.
Tragically, during their battle, Arthur’s son suffocated. The trap set by Black Manata doomed that child from the start. Arthur and Mera lost their son and Aquaman vowed to murder Black Manata.
In an ironic turn of events, Black Manta would later deem Aquaman responsible for taking his son’s life. No, Aquaman didn’t kill a baby, but he did take Manta’s son Kaldur’ahm, aka Jackson Hyde, under his fin.
