2. Black Panther

Did anyone see this coming? Sure, we’ve had black superhero movies before. But in the past they were less than nothing, run-of-the-mill action films or basically bad comedies. Black Panther was neither of these. It is safe to say, the demand was there and people were thirsting for something real. Believe it or not, Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther was the number one film, for five weekends straight. Right out of the door it made over $200 million, setting a new record for the month of February.

In fact, Black Panther is technically the number one film on the domestic box office. Ryan Coogler’s epic brought in over $700 million. Then, internationally the film made a total gross of $647 million. In conclusion, Black Panther’s total worldwide gross is of over $1.3 billion. Of course a sequel is on the way, with only this film’s $200 million budget. For the longest time Hollywood must have assumed there is no market for a black comic book movie. No, there is! You just have to make it right!
