Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse wins big at Golden Globes

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was nominated for a golden globe trophy and has won it. Here’s what we know.

Sunday night, the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards aired on NBC and Sony’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse took home the award for Best Animated Motion Picture from Golden Globes.

This was an amazing feat because Disney usually takes the trophy in this particular category, but this time the Golden Globe went to Sony for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Into The Spider-Verse is also the very first superhero movie to win a golden globe trophy. Here is what Into the Spider-Verse director Peter Ramsey said after winning the award in speaking with The Hollywood Reporter:

"Anyone can wear the mask; everyone is powerful and everyone is necessary, and that is the spirit of the movie. We all felt deeply that anyone can have this kind of experience and be this kind of hero. The story of Miles Morales was a way to crystallize all of those feelings into one character."

Co-director Bob Persichetti also added more by saying the following of the film’s well-earned win at the Golden Globes:

"Our favorite part was finding a voice for Miles Morales, with Shameik Moore, and creating something that could stand up to Peter Parker and be unique and different and separate."

The nominees for the 2018 Best Motion Picture – Animated Award were Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Mirai, Ralph Breaks The Internet and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. It is amazing to know that Into The Spider-Verse won the award over such tough opponents.
