Long live the X-Men, as New Mutants spells the end of Fox’s franchise. but Disney Plus may have major plans for an X-Men miniseries.

Dark Phoenix and New Mutants will spell the end for the X-Men’s run with Fox. Just last week, reports surfaced that Fox canceled one of its most anticipated films, X-Force. Of course, with Deadpool’s success, if X-Force got the ax, it likely means Fox and the X-Men are completely divorced.

However, all is not bad in the land of the mutants. Fox bidding farewell means the end of their universe but not the X-Men. Instead, all the X-Men will soon join their Marvel brethren and sistren in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans continue to speculate how Disney would introduce the X-Men in the MCU. Theories suggested Avengers: Endgame, with time-travel playing a role. Or, the possibility or New Mutants serving as some sort of bridge — the list goes on.

However, there’s a chance Disney could usher in the X-Men another way. According to We Got This Covered, Disney has plans to feature the X-Men on their Disney Plus streaming service:

"“Sources close to We Got This Covered tell us that Marvel’s already tossing around potential ideas for X-Men-related series to go up on Disney Plus.”"

Disney doesn’t plan on holding back from its streaming service. There are a plethora of Marvel characters already in line for a miniseries, with Scarlet Witch, an X-Men, part of the lengthy lineup.

Of course, Disney can’t technically reveal any details about any plans for the X-Men until the merger is finalized. But it doesn’t stop speculation about which X-Men will feature on Disney Plus.

There are two X-Men-related shows currently airing. FX has Legion which follows Professor Xavier’s estranged son during his time in a mental institution. And Fox has Magento’s daughter, Polaris, who stars in The Gifted, a show that featured mutants in the run.

Both shows have received solid reviews and have their fair share of fans. Either of those shows could become part of Disney Plus. However, there are a few other X-Men that deserve a series on Disney Plus.
