The first look at the sixth season of Agents of SHIELD looks like it will be an intense one.

After season 5 ended in May 2018, there hasn’t been much in the news about Agents of SHIELD as it readies for its sixth season later this summer.

But that’s changed as a teaser trailer for season 6 dropped on Twitter late this morning, featuring lots of destruction.

Clocking in at just under 90 seconds of footage, it gives a hint at what the season will feel like, while leaving plenty of room for speculation and questions for the fanbase:

As expected, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is dead following a cancer-like reaction to the TAHITI Project (and wounds from fighting a Kree in the future).

Mack McKenzie (Henry Simmons) deals with the burden of his new role as Director, with advice from a hologram of Coulson, ensuring that Gregg isn’t completely done with his time on the show.

There is also footage of Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) fighting someone, and from a glimpse of orange, some magic is in the cards as well.

An unknown dark-haired woman who’s handy with a knife could be an ally or an opponent, based on the quick glimpse we see of her.

Leo Fitz (Iain De Caesticker) is still frozen as he’s traveling to rescue the team in the alternate timeline, and his wife, Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), rightfully worries about his safety.

Season 6 will be at least partially set in space, based on what we see here.

The antagonists of the season are described by Mack as “extremely powerful” and coming from out of nowhere. Who they could be remains to be seen, but with Captain Marvel releasing March 8, it seems possible they could be Skrulls, as a Coulson lookalike appears in the last frame of the video.

Next. Captain Marvel could have key Agents of SHIELD connections. dark

Here’s what we know so far about the sixth season: It will consist of 13 episodes and almost certainly be set after Avengers: Infinity WarThe Breakfast Club’s Anthony Michael Hall will join the cast in an unspecified role,  the characters of Enoch (Joel Stoffer) and SHIELD agent Piper (Briana Venskus) will return, Jeff Ward has been promoted to series regular as FitzSimmons’ grandson Deke Shaw, and it has already been extended to season 7.
