Deadpool 2 was the 9th best-selling DVD and 8th best-selling Blu-ray. Overall, it was 8th best-selling movie of 2018. This movie puts on quite the achievement, as it’s the number one best-seller across the board for three weeks straight, since its release in August. In fact, holiday sales manage to stir it back up. In fact, the film it managed to knock down in its release week was none other than the MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War. Who would have thought that a sequel would dethrone the home release of one of the biggest comic book movie events in recent history.

Still, this sequel’s numbers pale in comparison to the first film. By the end of 2016, the first Deadpool managed to bring in just shy of $100 million. Deadpool 2 could not even bring in one million Blu-rays in its first week. This comes as no surprise, given the film suffers from the usual sequel problem. Is it a bad film? Hardly! Nonetheless, it is not as good as the first one. The real draw for the film is Josh Brolin’s Cable. Must we hold these numbers in negative judgment? Of course not! It is doubtful it will meet its predecessor’s lifetime sales, though.
