DC Universe’s Stargirl fills out its main cast of characters

DC Universe’s live-action Stargirl series has now filled its main cast roster by announcing four more actors who are joining the series.

According to Deadline, joining Brec Bassinger and Luke Wilson in the cast will be Amy Smart, Neil Jackson, Trae Romano, and Hunter Sansone. Smart and Romano will be joining the cast of Stargirl as members of the Whitmore/Dugan Family, while Jackson and Sansone’s roles have not been disclosed at this point.

Smart will be taking on the role of Barbara Whitmore, Courtney’s (Bassinger) mother and Pat Dugan’s (Wilson) new wife. Based on the description provided by Deadline, Barbara will more than likely be portrayed as the parent who is less willing to go along with Courtney’s new life as Stargirl. Romano will be playing Courtney’s new step-brother and will more than likely be that portrayed as that annoying kid sibling that is common within this type of show.

Sansone and Jackson, on the other hand, have not had their roles announced, so it’s unclear who they will be playing. Given the age of Sansone, it’s possible that he will be playing a classmate of Courtney’s and possibly a love interest for her, as well. As for Jackson, it’s possible he could be playing another villain, even though there have been several that have already been announced. Or it’s possible he could be playing some sort of mentor for her, as she transitions into being Stargirl or even a teacher at her high school. Geoff Johns likes to keep a lot of details about his projects close to the chest, so the fact that several characters who have already been cast but haven’t been announced yet isn’t all that surprising.

Exclusively on DC Universe, Stargirl is being written and produced by Geoff Johns with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schecter, and Melissa Carter also producing. No release date has been announced.
