What Marvel Comics characters could show up in Captain Marvel?

The movie we’ve been waiting for since Nick Fury paged Carol Danvers before he was dusted is almost here. Captain Marvel debuts on Mar. 8 and people are excited. We’ll finally get to see the beginning of the superhero world in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When Nick Fury said Tony Stark wasn’t the only one, Captain Marvel was one of the superpowered beings he was referring to. We also get to see a young Phil Coulson and Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. in its early days. What else could a fan ask for? Well, how about some cameos from characters in the MCU?

Origin movies in the MCU tend to have cameos from other Marvel characters. Thor had Hawkeye, Iron Man had Nick Fury, and Captain America: First Avenger had Dum Dum Dugan. There’s no reason to think that Captain Marvel would be any different. We could see new characters like Valentina Allegra de Fontaine or shirt lived characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. like Victoria Hand. Here are four characters that could pop up in Captain Marvel.

This may be the easiest pick on this list. Hawkeye was probably one of the first people that Nick Fury recruited when S.H.I.E.L.D. was in its infancy. Along with Phil Coulson, Hawkeye has been a reliable member of Nick Fury’s team and it shows. Fury is one of the few people who knew Hawkeye had a family and where they lived. Also, when Thor was going after his hammer, Hawkeye was one of the people there to protect it. He was actually the big gun (or arrow) there in case something major came after Mjolnir. The trust Clint gained from Coulson and Fury could only come after a long time of being reliable.

This may be a more space-based movie, but a good chunk of the film will be on Earth. It’s unlikely that Fury will fight alongside someone he barely knows without his team backing him up. We already know that Coulson is one of them, why wouldn’t he have the best shot in the world shooting with him? Hawkeye could be right next to them shooting down Skrulls and the Kree in a spaceship. If not, he could be taking them down stealthily on Earth.
