Joey Lawrence as Batman is as bizarre as it sounds

As the Caped Crusader for Matt Reeves’ The Batman remains in question, one unlikely actor is jockeying for the role.

The Batman has a release date, which puts it as a priority for Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe. However, it’s a film without someone to play the Caped Crusader, as Ben Affleck’s run has ended, with Justice League the last time he donned this superhero’s attire.

Since the announcement, names have been floated to play Batman, including the debunked rumor on Armie Hammer, who was once a fan favorite to play Hal Jordan.

Well, add Joey Lawrence to the list of actors attached to Batman. Yes, the same person from the ’90s TV shows, Blossom and Brotherly Love.

Lawrence’s Instagram has become an all-out push to portray this legendary DC hero. One post included the announcement of a petition, rising far and beyond just asking Warner Bros. to consider him for the 2021 film.

Interest in this role is no laughing matter for Lawrence. His posts are not for comedic chops, but to push the envelope, to see if he’ll factor into production.

Does Lawrence have the inside track on playing Batman? Probably not, but it doesn’t hurt to try, right? Still, it’s difficult to expect him to become a factor in casting, whether realistic or not, especially with a younger actor rumored for the role. Lawrence is 42 years old.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant is an entertaining add-on to this casting saga, but it’s nothing more than that. Who eventually plays Batman, though, will be the decision moviegoers, and DC fans, await.
