Captain Marvel was trashed by audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes before the film hit theaters. To combat this, these fan reactions were removed from the website.

Captain Marvel will not hit theaters until Mar. 8, and the film’s official reviews have yet to release. That’s what placed questionable fan reviews on Rotten Tomatoes in doubt, as the “audience” that had yet to see the Brie Larson-led movie trolled with negative reactions.

To combat this, per EWRotten Tomatoes removed its fan reviews of Captain Marvel, and everyone won’t be able to comment or review until after it releases. This was determined from “an uptick in non-constructive input, sometimes bordering on trolling.”

A similar scenario happened with Star Wars: Episode IX. It’s a product of fans against the idea of these movies, reacting accordingly before either hits theaters without giving them a chance. Reactions were mixed to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which potentially resulted in the criticism of Episode IX before it receives a trailer or title.

Once these films arrive, then fans can react as such, but there is no substance to any of the troll reviews that slammed the internet throughout February, since Captain Marvel won’t arrive for 10 days and Episode IX in December 2019.

Captain Marvel is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first solo female film. It profiles the rise of Carol Danvers, dated back to the 1990s, long before the events of Avengers: Infinity War and even Iron Man, the MCU’s first feature.

This is also the final movie before April’s Avengers: Endgame, which will merge Danvers into the fold. Whatever happens in the March blockbuster may have a great impact on that and the future of the MCU. That’s when proper reviews and reactions can arrive to assess what just happened.
