Supergirl season 4 trailer introduces Lex Luthor

The iconic Superman villain Lex Luthor finally makes his debut in Supergirl next week, but before he does, check out the first footage of his appearance in this brand new trailer.

The CW’s Supergirl is obviously no stranger to adapting the iconic lore of Superman. Kara Zor-El’s debut on TV back in 2015 brought with it a ton of references to the Man Of Steel, with the Girl of Steel referencing her “more famous cousin” on many occasions before he eventually appeared during the show’s second season. Of course, the existence of Superman also confirmed the existence of his archenemy, Lex Luthor.

After seasons full of references to the iconic supervillain, most of which were made by his sister Lena, Lex will finally make his debut on Supergirl in one week’s time. The episode, titled “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, will see Lex turn to Lena when, after being furloughed from prison because of ill-health, he will seek her help finding a cure. However, it appears he will have much darker motivations than that.

If you can’t wait to see Lex in action, then today is you’re lucky day because The CW has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming episode. Originally unveiled by Entertainment Weekly, the promo features the first footage of Mr. Luthor and, well, let’s just say that “epic” is an understatement. Check it out below:

Superman’s formidable foe will be portrayed by Jon Cryer and, from the looks of the trailer, he is already killing it in the role. Delivering the iconic “Superman made me do it” line was just the icing on the cake and the perfect way for the showrunners to tease his arrival.

Based on what we have seen so far, it looks like Supergirl‘s iteration of Lex will be every bit as dangerous as his comic book counterpart. But with Superman off-world at the moment, it’s going to be up to the Girl of Steel to stop him.
