18. Uncle Blossom Shows Up At Clifford’s Will Reading

Episode: “Chapter Twenty-Eight: There Will Be Blood” (Season 2, Episode 15)

There are times in life when we find ourselves so shell-shocked by the events we witness that someone close to us might say: “you look like you’ve seen a ghost”. Well, in this case, we did… or at least, for a moment, we thought we did.

During a public reading of Clifford Blossom’s secret will, Cheryl stood up in front of everyone to say a few words about her deceased father. However, before she could really say what she wanted to, a figure appeared in the doorway, causing her face to drain of all expression. In that moment, Cheryl saw the impossible: her father, risen from the dead, standing before her. And it was the last sight she saw before fainting.

It was subsequently revealed that Clifford had not risen from the grave and that the mystery man who shared her father’s face was, in fact, his twin brother Claudius – who had turned his back on the Blossom family’s legacy as a young boy, heading out to sea instead. However, now that his brother had promised his fortune to anyone with Blossom blood, it was clear that Claudius’ timing was far from coincidental.

Though he failed to do anything of importance for the remainder of the season, his arrival was undoubtedly one of the most genuinely jaw-dropping moments in Riverdale history and, given that this is a show that thrives on pulling the rug out from under us, that really is saying something.
