2. Hercules and the Greek Gods

So far, the Asgardians have been the only gods to get acknowledged in the MCU. When you have Thor being played by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston playing Loki, it’s not shocking that they’d stick with that pantheon. However, there are a ton of gods in the Marvel Comics Universe. Among them are the Greek Gods like Zeus, Hera, Ares, and the underrated demigod Hercules.

The Greek Gods in the comics are every bit as messed up as their mythos suggests. Zeus is a cheater and jealous god. Hera is an angry goddess (with a cheating husband, it’s understandable), and Ares thrives on war.

Hercules is also the same as his mythology. He has a love for Earth that is only matched by Thor’s. However, Hercules is a bit more childlike. He loves to drink, fight, and have a lot of sex. He’s been an Avenger and has fought in more battles than most superheroes. Also, his time with Wolverine is hilarious.

Bringing in Hercules would be great for the MCU. He is an underappreciated character who adds levity, action, and adds a villain in his brother Ares. The two of them could have a battle that would make Iron Man versus Hulk look like a slap fight. If and when Thor departs from the MCU, Hercules would make a great replacement. Hopefully, the two meet before that happens. They both hate and respect each other. It’s like watching to siblings fight over the last cookie.
