8. Brother Voodoo
There was a time in the comics where Dr. Strange relinquished his title of Sorcerer Supreme. He felt he was arrogantly using his powers and wasn’t worthy of the title. The Eye of Agamotto then selected a worthy successor and it was the Lord of the Loa Jericho Drumm a.k.a. Brother Voodoo. The Eye picked him over Dr. Doom, Wiccan, and a ton of other sorcerers. This just shows how skilled and powerful Jericho Drumm is.
Jericho may not be that well-known, but he’s been around since 1973. Like with Luke Cage, there wasn’t a lot of effort being put into his character for years. It wasn’t until Brian Michael Bendis got a hold of him and made a genuine attempt to make him more than just a guy who knows the mystical art of Voodoo. Once that happened, he became the Sorcerer Supreme, later became part of the Avengers Unity Squad, and will be on the Savage Avengers team starting in May.
Brother Voodoo could also start Marvel’s horror movie franchise. The good thing is the movies don’t need to be rated R. Movies like Insidious, Happy Death Day, and A Quiet Place were all successful horror flicks with a PG-13 rating. This may not be the franchise for children, but both Deadpool movies and Logan have shown us that there is money to be made in movies for adults. Really getting into the lore of Voodoo and making it suspenseful would be a success.
