While fans will have to wait until next year for Courtney Whitmore’s Stargirl to take flight, DC Universe has officially revealed our first-look at the iconic character’s super suit!
DC Universe kicked off the first day of WonderCon 2019 off with a bang, using the annual pop culture convention to reveal the first-look of actress Courtney Whitmore donning her Stargirl super suit! Despite an announced early 2020 debut for DC Universe’s live-action Stargirl series, the streaming service rolled out the first-look art of Whitmore in costume in an incredibly comic-accurate design.
Drawing inspiration from the pages of DC Comics, legendary costume designer Laura Jean Shannon (who has also helped to craft iconic looks for the Titans, Doom Patrol and Black Lightning casts) pulls from the character’s signature comic book look. Shannon beautifully translates the character’s look from the pages of the Geoff Johns’ created series right down to the character’s signature staff.

While Stargirl won’t soar onto the DC Universe until early 2020, DC Universe will be serving up plenty of exciting new content to help tide fans over until the series arrival.
Following the season finale of Doom Patrol, fans can look forward to the debut of the service’s new horror series Swamp Thing which is set to debut Friday, May 31 as well as the second half of Young Justice: Outsiders which will debut on July 2. Also on deck in the coming months is the Season 1 premiere of Syfy’s breakout drama Krypton as well as the second season of Titles and debut season of animated original Harley Quinn – both of which are set to debut in Fall 2019.
Stargirl is set to debut sometime in early 2020 on DC Universe.
