DC Universe: Swamp Thing Season 1 premiere date set for May 2019

Summer just got a bit more exciting for DC Universe subscribers, with the DC streaming service announcing a May premiere for Swamp Thing Season 1!

Time to mark your calendars Swamp Thing fans! Less than a year after word first broke of DC’s plan to adapt the iconic DC Comics franchise into a live-action series, DC Universe is putting rumors to rest in announcing the official premiere date for its forthcoming Swamp Thing.

During it’s eventful appearance at pop culture convention WonderCon, DC Universe revealed the debut season of Swamp Thing will debut Friday, May 31. Following its premiere, new episodes of Swamp Thing will debut weekly through DC Universe giving fans another reason to celebrate Friday’s arrival.

From the minds of executive producers James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear and Len Wiseman, Swamp Thing is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow DC Universe originals Titans and Doom Patrol in presenting high-end entertainment inspired by iconic DC Comics characters from DC Comics. Unlike those before it, though, Swamp Thing is set to chart its own unique course by tapping into the Horror genre with DC Universe promising strong horror underpinnings from the series.

While details about the debut season are scarce, Swamp Thing is set to follow DC Comics’ Abby Arcane as she embarks on an investigation which quickly becomes unlike any she’s embarked on before. As Abby and the audience will soon discover, there is much more than meets the eye to the small town Louisiana swamp than the deadly swamp-born virus which first brings Abby to town.

The series promises to add a new dimension to the DC Universe franchise and is sure to catch the eye of horror fans looking for an exciting new drama to sink their teeth into over the summer!
