Gotham unveils first look at the Joker in finale trailer
Gotham has finally unveiled the first look at Cameron Monaghan’s Joker in a brand new trailer for the show’s upcoming finale.
With Gotham‘s final season well underway, the end is nigh for Fox’s beloved Batman prequel series. But it’s not over till it’s over, and the show has been pulling out all the stops to ensure that the concluding string of episodes are their best outings yet.
Now to top it all off, it has taken the opportunity of April Fool’s Day to unveil the first official look at Cameron Monaghan’s Joker in a brand new trailer for the upcoming finale. Check it out below:
The clip, titled “J”, starts off by giving us a glimpse of what the post-No Man’s Land Gotham will look like, before taking a trip to Arkham Asylum. There, we see all that remains of Jeremiah Valeska. Fans will remember that Valeska’s attempts to destroy Bruce Wayne earlier this season resulted in the unhinged monster falling into a vat of chemicals, leaving him without any brain activity.
With a rough, burnt white face and long green strands of hair protruding from his head, Jeremiah is in a vegetative state, as the world carries on around him. However, as the trailer suggests, it isn’t long until he feels “pretty,” as we then see two terrifying clips of his final look, his Joker look, in action. But perhaps none are more important than the final shot, which sees the Joker himself bursting into a horrifying cackle when he notices that a Batarang has been jammed through his hand. Yes, Mr. J, the Dark Knight is coming.
Gotham is known for its unique interpretations so this unorthodox appearance will undoubtedly split viewers (especially when Monaghan’s previous looks as both Jerome and Jeremiah were far more comic-accurate). However, it’s nothing short of terrifying and, as we’ve already seen in the past, Monaghan is chillingly good at any iteration of the character.
Get ready Gotham, Joker’s officially in town!
Gotham returns to Fox for the last time to air its penultimate episode on Thursday, April 18, at 8:00 p.m. With just two episodes to go, it’s clear that the city needs its Dark Knight more than ever. Are you excited for the final two episodes? Let us know in the comments below!
