Agents of SHIELD revealed the first footage from the upcoming sixth season over the weekend.

Over the weekend, Agents of SHIELD released the first footage from season 6 via the show’s official social media accounts.

This came as part of cast appearances at WonderCon in Anaheim, California, on Saturday (March 30).

Fittingly for the ABC drama, the first Marvel Cinematic Universe project to take on the small screen, the footage is of an action scene. Well, not exactly, but shortly after one.

In this clip, Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) and Yo-Yo Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) have just finished a fight with a man in a SHIELD jumpsuit, and there is possibly a poison gas involved.

Out of a shimmering cloud a fast-moving semi appears and destroys several SUVs. We then see the driver, who looks an awful lot like Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). That’s impossible, of course, because Coulson died of cancer as a side effect of the TAHITI Project.

The not-Coulson orders a young agent to release his prisoner, a mysterious brunette. When the agent is slow to comply, Gregg’s new character shoots him with a laser gun.

The context for this scene is nonexistent, leaving plenty of room for fan speculation. Avengers: Endgame will probably make things a little clearer. Until then, fans have to wait until season 6 premieres on Friday, May 10, with “Missing Pieces.”

As the cast is a fun-loving bunch, they talked about some of their April Fool’s Day hijinks during WonderCon.

According to Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons), Chloe Bennet (Daisy “Quake” Johnson) is a known prankster, who has been known to pull devious shenanigans via phone calls on April Fool’s Day:

Meanwhile, her on-screen husband Iain De Caesticker (Leo Fitz) and grandson Jeff Ward (Deke Shaw) have a very similar real-life dynamic as their characters do on the show:

Cordova-Buckley declared herself immune to pranks, which feels like an invitation for the rest of the cast to pull something on her.
