The Pull List: Comic books you should read this week (April 3, 2019)
By Abel Loza
There are a lot of comic books that come out every week, and it can be hard to try to navigate the waters to try to find something new, or for a first time reader, try to find a good starting point.
In a Marvel-heavy week, there is a lot to be excited for this week and we’re going to narrow down which comic books you should read this week.

Rocko’s Modern Afterlife No. 1
Writer: Anthony Burch
Artist: Mattia Di Meo
This pic will probably only entice those of us who grew up in the golden age of cartoon watching, i.e., the 1990s, but when you mix Rocko’s Modern Life, the most underrated Nickelodeon Nicktoon of all time, with Zombies, that is a something that should intrigue every 90s kid. I wouldn’t usually be into these licensed BOOM! Studio comic books, but this looks extremely interesting and fun, so let’s give it a shot! This is the first of a short, four-issue run, and if this is any good, I hope they continue to bring back old Nicktoons with original comic book ideas.

Marvel Team-ups No. 1
Writer: Eve Ewing
Artist: Joey Vazquez
Super excited to get the Marvel Team-ups back, since they haven’t been in publication since 2005. It’s always super fun to see Spider-Man team up with heroes that he might otherwise team up with. The first issue back sees the web-slinger team up with Ms. Marvel in a very unique “flip book” format that allows the reader to start read from either side. This seems like a novel idea, and one that has me excited to check this out, in a crowded week.

War of Realms No. 1
Writer: Jason Aaron
Artist: Rusell Dauterman
A series that has been teased for quite some time now, the War of Realms will pit the other nine realms versus Midgard (Earth), as Malekith is marching his army towards the Marvel heroes in this soon-to-be epic mini-series. I don’t understand how Jason Aaron has any time to breath, let alone write take up another title, but there isn’t anyone on the Marvel roster who writes Thor or anyone in the Thor-verse, quite like Aaron does, so there is little doubt this will be a good series
Green Lantern No. 6
Writer: Grant Morrison
Artist: Liam Sharp
In a rather small week for DC Comics, Green Lantern No. 6 is the standout book of the week for the publishing company. In this issue we will see what Hal Jordan’s decision will be as he goes deep undercover with the Blackstars, who have set his final task for initiation into the group: kill Adam Strange. We need more Adam Strange in the main DC continuity. Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp have combined for one of the most fun, and best looking Green Lantern books ever, and should be on any DC fan’s pull list.
