10 actors who could play Wolverine in the MCU
By Jacob Craig
Fox’s X-Men properties are making their way into the MCU, but who could play Wolverine?
The 21st Century Fox and Disney merger has been hot news ever since the initial rumors surfaced, but the two studios have finally, officially come together as one. What was the main motivation for this merger? The MCU.
As of right now, the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, Namor, and countless other characters can now appear in MCU films, but the most intriguing addition has to be Wolverine. Everyone has always wanted to see Wolverine in a movie alongside the Avengers, and now that dream may become a reality.
However, according to Comicbook.com, the studio is not considering Hugh Jackman back for the role. Therefore, it seems that some new blood will be seen in the character, but who could possibly do as good of a job as Jackman did? Well, here are ten actors who just might.
10. Kit Harington
Kit Harington is known by many loving fans as Jon Snow, and with Game of Thrones going into its last season this year, now is the perfect time to try to sign Harington to a multi-picture contract. He is already a huge star- despite not having success in movies thus far- and fans would love to see him pop up in the Marvel universe.
As far as his qualifications for Wolverine go, Harington always seems dark and distant in his GoT role, which could easily transfer over into the tortured Logan. He has had his fair share of savage moments on TV, and he may be just gruff and scruffy enough to pass as the next adamantium mutant.

9. Scott Eastwood
As far as pure looks go, Scott Eastwood may be the most qualified replacement for Wolverine. Not only is he an extremely handsome man- much like Hugh Jackman- but he exudes a gruff energy with his personality and acting style.
Many fans have always wanted to see Clint Eastwood portray Old Man Logan, but this could be even better. Having his son Scott, who is arguably just like a prime Clint, portraying the Wolverine we all know and love? This is a recipe for an extremely successful MCU debut.
8. Andrew Lincoln
Hugh Jackman left the role of Wolverine due to his age, and while Andrew Lincoln is only a few years younger than him, he is still an excellent choice for the character. You may know Lincoln from his tenure on The Walking Dead, and if you’ve seen any episode of the show, then you know that Rick Grimes is an absolute savage. The episode where Rick bites someone’s throat out, and drenches himself in blood was the moment that should be targeted as his Wolverine audition tape, and Lincoln’s method acting may actually make him more savage than Hugh Jackman ever was.

7. Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy was Hugh Jackman’s personal choice to replace him as Wolverine, and that alone should be enough to get him the job. However, Hardy is also one of the best actors in Hollywood right now, and looks just like the comic book counterpart of Logan. Although it would be extremely cool to have Hardy’s Venom in the MCU, that is unlikely to happen, so Wolverine may serve as a lucrative consolation prize for the seasoned actor.
6. Luke Evans
Luke Evans has been a popular choice for Batman ever since Christian Bale left the role, but Wolverine may be more suited for him. Evans has made a career out of playing dark, battle-ready characters, and his look for Wolverine is uncanny. If you have ever seen Luke Evans in Dracula Untold or The Hobbit, then you know that he was born to play this character, at least for the MCU.

5. Sam Heughan
While a lot of MCU fans may not be too familiar with the series Outlander, Sam Heughan is the star of the hit show nonetheless, and it is not just a romance story. Heughan has had many scenes where he has cut down soldiers with an ax, and shown pure savagery and anger through his facial expressions and acting method. He may be a little too much of a “pretty boy” for the role, but so was Hugh Jackman when he wasn’t in character, showing that everything can change once an actor has to become the hero they portray.
4. Michiel Huisman
Kit Harington isn’t the only Game of Thrones star to prove his aptitude for starring as the violent mutant hero Wolverine, as Michiel Huisman is a name that has also been thrown around among fans of the show. You may recognize Huisman as Daenerys Targaryen’s former booty call Daario Naharis, but he was much more than just the Dragon Queen’s boyfriend.
Huisman played a deadly assassin in Naharis, and proved that he has what it takes to play a cold-blooded killer with a dark past. With the right hair and makeup team, he could look just like Wolverine, and the character could turn him into a breakout star just like it did Jackman.

3. Charlie Hunnam
Chances are no one will argue with Charlie Hunnam’s credentials for Wolverine after Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim, and that’s all that truly matters. Hunnam would be sure to do the character justice, and would certainly fill Hugh Jackman’s shoes. However, he just does not have the classic look expected from Logan, as he has the blonde hair and charm that make women swoon. Despite this, he still carries around a certain amount of gruffness with his roles, and he could make up for his appearance by draining extreme amounts of rage and darkness into his performance.
2. Tyler Hoechlin
Tyler Hoechlin undoubtedly has the look for Logan- that much is clear- but is he in the same kind of shape that Hugh Jackman was in? Absolutely not.
When Hoechlin was cast as Superman on Supergirl, the major complaint from fans was how skinny he was, so he would have to bulk up to the best of his abilities in order to snag the role of MCU’s Wolverine. His role as a vicious werewolf on Teen Wolf would likely be invaluable for Wolverine, and if he could get into the proper shape for the role, then his acting prowess would be able to carry him the rest of the way.
10. Liam Hemsworth
Liam Hemsworth gained the majority of his fame due to his brother Chris, and while he carries the same kind of irresistible looks, he has much gruffer facial features. He looks oddly similar to Wolverine, and while he may not have the the same look exactly, getting into characters can do wonders for the audience’s perception of an actor.
Hemsworth has been a shoe-in for the MCU, and with this opportunity coming up, Wolverine may be his true calling. While this casting may experience fan backlash at first, Hemsworth’s performance could turn everyone around, and playing Wolverine could really turn his career around as well.
