Avengers: Endgame ticket pre-sales snapped Infinity War into oblivion

Moviegoers have supported Avengers: Endgame at least five times more than its predecessor, Infinity War.

Ticket sales for Avengers: Endgame broke multiple ticket-selling websites upon release on Tuesday, April 2. Hardly a surprise, it unleashed the marketing without Disney and Marvel Studios needing much else, aside from the sporadic television spots.

Just how grand was the ticket sales impact, though? Enough to obliterate what Avengers: Infinity War did in the spring of 2018.

Per CNBC.com, Fandango announced it sold five times as many tickets in the first seven days of Endgame pre-sales as it did for Infinity War. The exact totals were not provided.

Infinity War was marketed as a landmark, game-changing event for superhero films, which it followed up on. Almost every protagonist featured in the MCU aligned for this epic feature.

However, the 2018 blockbuster’s ending set the stage for Endgame along with the thrilling trailers, that provided minimal context on what may happen later this month. It made these ticket pre-sales that much more awe-inspiring.

Plus, it is potentially the last time moviegoers will see some of these characters grace the big screen, including Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. That alone can sell, given the following Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth respectively have from their run as these classic Marvel heroes.

Now, Disney and Marvel Studios and twiddle their thumbs for 16 days and just wait for this film’s long-awaited arrival. Sure, there will be some promotion along the way, but little is needed to hype a film that already sold out movie theaters across the world and has a non-stop social media buzz.

Everything will come to fruition on Friday, April 26, when Avengers: Endgame soars into theaters for its three hours and two minutes of runtime. With these ticket sale reports, one can only imagine how much this film will make at the box office over a multi-month run.
