Brian Michael Bendis’ Iron Man: Reboot run is a great place for new readers before Avengers: Endgame.

Iron Man is easily one of the most popular comic book characters in the movies today. Tony Stark is cool, his armor is powerful, and he does whatever he wants all while helping to save the day. Ever since he debuted in the first Iron Man movie, he’s been the character people have looked forward to seeing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The best part is the MCU version isn’t far from the comic book version of Tony Stark.

Tony Stark in the comic books is everything that you see in the movies. There may have been some slight alterations to the character, but nothing too severe. In 2015, rock star writer Brian Michael Bendis wrote a run of Iron Man (titled Invincible Iron Man) that’s a perfect starting point for new readers. It also would have made a phenomenal movie and adds elements that could be used in the future of the MCU.

Awesome villain

Beating Iron Man isn’t an easy task. If you don’t have superpowers, it’s even more difficult. Captain America lost to Iron Man on more than one occasion and he’s one of the best fighters in comics. In this series, Iron Man went up against someone he had a relationship with named Madame Masque. She is a normal villain who solves her problems with guns and a set of amazing fight styles.

This time, Masque decided to add magic to her arsenal. A mistake people make. Magic isn’t easily controlled. Especially when you don’t have the training to wield its power. It took the combined efforts of Tony Stark and a reformed Victor von Doom to take her down.

Connecting this to the MCU

Madame Masque is a villain that has yet to be introduced in the MCU (unless you count Whitney Frost in Agent Carter). She has the personality to be an unforgettable villain. She’s smart, cunning, and can hold her own in hand to hand combat with almost anyone. She could appear in a Spider-Man movie or even fight the next incarnation of Iron Man who’s looking for revenge. Stark may have dated her and treated her badly. It isn’t far fetched since they dated in the comic book and Stark was a bit of a womanizer.
