Titans season 2: Is Iain Glen a good fit for Batman?
By Jacob Craig
Titans fans rejoice as Iain Glen is playing Batman on Titans season 2, but how will he fair as the Dark Knight?
Followers of the DC Universe show have been anxiously anticipating the arrival of Dick Grayson’s former mentor for quite some time, only to be given a stunt performer in a Batsuit. However, it seems that Game of Thrones alum Iain Glen has finally been cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the series.
However, is this the right path to take? It is fair to say that Iain Glen look far different from any actor that has ever played Batman before, and while Titans is obviously going for an older, The Dark Knight Returns version of Batman, it is unclear if we will actually see Glen suit up or not. If we do see him in the suit as Batman, will he actually have what it takes for that side of the character, or is he only a worthy Bruce Wayne?
This is one of the most exciting DC castings in recent memory, and chances are every fan has a different opinion on Glen as Bruce Wayne, making this somewhat of a controversial Batman. Does he have the look? Does he have the acting credentials? Is he best suited for the role? Let’s talk about it.
The Look

When it comes to the look of Batman, fans are extremely picky. Batman, according to the Arkham game series, is 6’2″, 210 lbs., has blue eyes, and has black hair. Aside from that, the actor also has to be extremely handsome to pass as a billionaire playboy.
So how does Iain Glen stack up against that? Not too great. He is certainly tall enough at 6’1″, but he only weighs roughly 163 lbs. Glen is likely the skinniest, lightest Batman since Michael Keaton, and his fiery red hair is very unlike any other actor to previously take the role. But certainly Batman is expected to be leaner after retirement, right?
Well, in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, which is what Iain Glen’s performance will likely be based nf, Batman is even larger than he was in his prime. This was a huge inspiration in casting the 6’4″ Ben Affleck in the role. So, with Glen having such a huge weight difference compared to all of his predecessors, it seems that physicality does him no favors.
However, Glen does have the dashing, reserved look and demeanor that is expected from Bruce Wayne. Even as the oldest Batman we have ever seen on screen, he is an absolute ladykiller. Due to his gruffly, handsome looks, no one should have any problem believing the Bruce Wayne side, but he may run into some trouble if he suits up as the Dark Knight. At 57 years old, Glen may be reserved only for the alter ego of the Caped Crusader, and that may be for the best.
