On Wednesday, April 18, Riverdale will air season 3, episode 18 titled “Chapter Fifty-Three: Jawbreaker.” It will look to continue what happened when the show left viewers in March.
Season 3 has proved inconsistent at times with establishing direction. The show is trying to connect all the characters into one storyline, with the Gargoyle King involved. Gladys Jones’ arrival around the season’s midway point complicated everything and created in-family drama, at least between Gladys and Jughead.

The Farm is another issue and potentially connected to the Gargoyles. Edgar Evernever was introduced in the final two episodes of March, and he already recruited Cheryl Blossom, who tried doing Betty’s dirty work for investigation purposes. Now, Betty is left scrambling for answers on the cult-like group that targeted her mother and sister.
Plus, there are just five episodes left in season 3, including Wednesday’s airing. The show should start wrapping up storylines and delivering critical plot points. That might not happen in “Chapter Fifty-Three: Jawbreaker,” but they can push the envelope to entice viewers.
