4. Captain America Wields Thor’s Hammer
Film: Avengers: Endgame
The history of Mjolnir in the MCU is well-documented. Thor’s legendary hammer, only the God of Thunder himself is considered worthy enough to wield such a majestic weapon and, as we saw in 2011’s Thor, even he has struggled to remain worthy at times. As a result, it’s always been impossible for any mortal being to handle it (many have tried and failed). Well, that is, until Captain America himself only went and did it.
That’s right, the closing battle scene from Avengers: Endgame was a cinematic marvel and it’s very first awe-inspiring moment came when Thor found himself on the wrong end of his new weapon (Stormbreaker) just as Thanos was about to bury it deep into his chest. However, that’s when his old one, Mjolnir, began moving, gravitating towards somebody else. As both characters and viewers looked on, they watched in awe as, there, right before their eyes was Steve Rogers, holding the Hammer like it was his own.

Imbued with the power of Thor, he summoned lightning and evened the odds in the fight against Thanos.
The idea of a human being worthy enough of handling Thor’s hammer has been a running gag within the MCU since The Mighty One made his debut, with all of the male Avengers trying their luck in 2015’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
This was the perfect culmination of that story as, just like when Steve was the only Avenger who managed to move the hammer (slightly), it highlighted that the team’s leader, their super-soldier, their most human member was deserving and worthy of handling the power of Thor. And what an awe-inspiring moment it was.
