1. Steve And Peggy Finally Have That Dance

Film: Avengers: Endgame

Captain America’s arc throughout the whole of the MCU has been, without a doubt, one of the shared universe’s most consistent. He may be an awe-inspiring super-soldier with an incredible threshold for pain and an impressive knack for avoiding death but, at his heart, Steve Rogers is a compassionate human being willing to do whatever it takes to protect those around him, especially those he loves.

Following his debut in The First Avenger, however, his outlook changed. Though he still maintained all of those admirable qualities, the ambition, the passion, the light was just no longer behind those eyes. He knew that his gifts had now cursed him to a life that his heart just wasn’t in – the reason being, of course, that he was a solider out of time and simply wasn’t meant to be part of the modern world and, more importantly, he wasn’t meant to be without Peggy. But alas, he fought on.

Avengers: Endgame had a tall task of wrapping up every major character’s arc and, although it didn’t quite succeed with all of them, it knocked it out of the park with Steve’s storyline as it finally addressed this longing for happiness head-on. Having successfully saved the world one more time, Steve decided to retire – but not in the present-day, in the past.

Using the time-travel technology the Avengers utilized to defeat Thanos, Steve completed his final mission by returning the Infinity Stones to their rightful locations before settling in the past that had been taken from him all those decades ago. But it wasn’t about the time, it was about the person.

As Endgame drew to a close, Steve was somewhere between the ’40s and ’50s, happily married to the love of his life, Peggy Carter. He was home.

In one of the most fitting scenes in the entire MCU, Steve and Peggy finally got that dance after all.

What a beautiful way to end a beautiful story.
