14. Steve Showcases His New Abilities

Film: Captain America: The First Avenger

Upon becoming America’s own super-soldier and receiving a ton of enhanced abilities, Steve was quite literally thrown in at the deep end – or, more accurately, he threw himself in at the deep end.

Following his successful physical transformation, a Hydra agent ended up destroying the lab and killing the doctor responsible for making it all possible. Of course, Steve couldn’t let that stand and, as a result, surged into the street to follow his newfound enemy.

This proved to be the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his new abilities as he saved Agent Carter from gunfire, lunged over cars and managed to keep up with his target. Despite the constant gunfire he faced, the insane traffic and even the fact that he was running barefoot, he showed absolutely no signs of slowing down and, in doing so, proved that he was the right candidate for the experiment after all.

Steve always had heart, passion and a desire to the right thing, and now, after all this time, he had been given the gifts to make it tangible. In a single scene, we knew that Steve’s transformation was about far more than just his new body, it was about the fact that everything good inside of him had indeed been amplified and that no obstacle could deter him from achieving his goal ever again.

As a result, this was an effective look at the MCU Captain America’s abilities that still managed to possess that thrown-together-at-the-last-minute charm that pre-Cap Steve Rogers was all about.
