11. Captain America Returns To Save Vision & Scarlet Witch
Film: Avengers: Infinity War
After everything that went down in Captain America: Civil War, Steve and his half of the Avengers (Falcon, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch) went off the grid for a while as the government hunted for the supposed “war criminals.” That didn’t, however, mean that they wouldn’t resurface… because they did, exactly when the world needed them most.
That just so happened to be in the first act of Avengers: Infinity War when Wanda/Scarlet Witch and Vision (who had both snuck away for a weekend together) unwittingly found themselves at the mercy of Thanos’ extended family – all of whom sought the Mind Stone inside Vision’s head.
As the alien warriors attempted to take the stone inside a train station, their attention was drawn to something behind a moving train. And there, in the darkness, stood Steve Rogers – his uniform darker, his appearance changed, his mission the same. After two years, Captain America had finally returned.
He received back-up in the form of Falcon and Black Widow as the trio proceeded to fight the invaders and rescue Vision and Wanda, emphatically putting Thanos and his entire army on notice: Earth belonged to The Avengers.
Given all that had happened, this was undeniably a great way to bring Steve and the others back into the fold. It wasn’t just an epic fight scene, it was a prologue to the spectacle we were about to watch, setting the stage for something even bigger – and adding those familiar beats of Alan Silvestri’s magnificent Avengers composition just added to the grandeur of it. Watching this, you just knew all hell was about to break loose.
