It’s time for the final battle with Mojo! Are Rogue and Gambit ready?

Since his creation in 1985’s Longshot No. 3 (by Ann Nocenti and Art Adams), Mojo and his “Mojoworld” have always represented a satire of corporate entertainment. Whether as a send-up to network TV or blockbuster films, or even comics themselves, Mojo has usually filled that role well. Unfortunately, he’s also often filled the role of “random villain” for the X-Men, trucked out in between massive sagas much like Arcade often was. Yet here, he has owned most of the second half of this fledgling team-up series.

Every mass media action blockbuster has an explosive climax, and Mojo is ready for it! However this time it wasn’t what he imagined. Having kidnapped the newlywed Rogue and Gambit out of a zeal for trashy romance fiction, he’s inadvertently played a role in Rogue’s development. Thanks to Spiral and some of their wacky machines, Rogue’s mind and powers are unified like never before! Spiral has capitalized on the opportunity to reclaim something stolen, while Gambit has teamed up with the obligatory rebel forces of Mojoworld!

However, while Mojo may be fat and ugly, he’s also far more powerful than he seems. A mixture of magic and technology, his power levels rise and fall based on the “ratings” his warped shows average. Rarely defeated and able of challenging a squad of X-Men, the cybernetic blob thinks he still has every advantage. He even references 1991’s X-Men No. 11, where Rogue passed out upon trying to drain his life-force. This time, however, she doesn’t even need to be near him!
