Is Spiral a Funnier Third Wheel Than Deadpool!?
Every action blockbuster has a scene-stealer, and this time it’s Spiral. While Rogue and Gambit are capable of fun banter, it’s her poking fun at their flirtations or throwing shade at some of their life choices, In exchange for helping Rogue, she tasked Gambit with stealing one of those plot devices that comic books (and action films) are always full of. Remy insists it’s a baby, yet it turns out to be a piece of Spiral’s soul. Appearing as different things to different people, it gives her the boost she needs! Yet does Remy seeing her soul as a baby mean he wants to be a daddy after all?
From there it is roughly six pages of Mojo butt kicking — over 20% of the issue itself! Power drains, explosions, glowing swords, the battle has it all. Yet as Spiral herself says, revolutions in Mojoworld are about as frequent as cards in Gambit’s coat. There’s little chance this one will stick for long, regardless of Gambit’s optimism. From there, the newlyweds finally get a chance to return to their upscale Manhattan apartment — whose rent has to be half the price of the X-Mansion!

It quickly becomes obvious that the greatest challenge to Gambit and Rogue isn’t Mojo or aliens, it’s getting some alone time! The pair have barely stepped in from being kidnapped to another dimension, and their phones are buzzing. It’s an obvious yet clever take on modern life, where simply getting some “alone time” — whether truly alone or with a significant other — amid a never-ending schedule and social media stream seems like an uphill climb, at best.
