The Partisans betray Luke Skywalker in Star Wars No. 65

The Rebels are close to taking down the whole of Shu-Torun, but before they do, they must first fight back against some of their own. Spoilers for Star Wars no. 65 follow.

Leia’s revenge on Queen Trios and the entire planet of Shu-Torun is almost complete, there are just a couple snags to the plan though. Benthic and his Partisans essentially backstabbing Luke, Leia, and Han, and Trios not simply willing to take the destruction of her planet.

Luke and the Partisans are pretty easily managing to take down the generators that power the planet from the inside, with only two to go once the issue starts up. The problem is though, Luke doesn’t have any contact with Leia or Han and Benthic betrays Luke once they get to the final generator, which has the potential to destroy the entire planet as revenge for Jedha. Luke isn’t willing to go through with that though and attempts to stop them, which shows how different the Rebellion and the Partisans are at heart.

Queen Trios though, escapes from her imprisonment, providing an almost very violent spectacle before she does so and immediately goes to find Leia. Much to the dismay of Leia and Han though, when Trios arrives at her throne room, she doesn’t land like they were expecting her too. She instead crashes through the wall with her ship, making their job much harder.

Scar Squadron was able to get a communication out to the Empire while all of this is going on, which causes a Star Destroyer to arrive at Shu-Torun. Instead of simply providing assistant to their ally though, the commander of the ship wants to complete and utter annihilation of the throne and everyone inside the building.

Kieron Gillen and Angel Unzueta continue to strongly build towards the eventual climax of this arc with pulse-pounding action and a great flow to it. They cover so much ground in this issue at such a perfect pace, that it often seemed like the issue was more than twenty-two pages.
