Can the Love between April and Casey Be Rekindled?
This is one of the first times Casey and April have been on panel together for over a year. The pair split up in 2015’s TMNT: Casey & April miniseries, due in part to their drastically different mindsets alongside manipulation by the Rat King. And ever since that split, it could be argued both have retreated to where they’re comfortable. April has fallen back in the world of science and academia, while Casey is even further entrenched in violent gang affairs, leading the Purple Dragons.

In their previous, and brief, reunion, tensions were still raw, and they barely spoke. Now, each of them has fonder memories of their relationship, and it’s merely awkward. Unfortunately, one of the chief reasons for this awkwardness is that Casey’s moved on. Jennika is in the background and has begun dating him. To a degree this also mirrors the original Mirage comics, where Casey left the gang for a while and dated a waitress named Gabrielle (who dies during childbirth). Is a similarly tragic fate in store for Jennika?

Amid all this, Raphael has found himself walking into the territory of the “Mutanimals.” Despite his earlier huff, he’s ironically managed to go on course to the mission that Leo had intended for him. Old Hob and his militant gang of mutants are often allies of convenience more than true friends, but they’re involved regardless. Unlike Leonardo, Old Hob’s familiar with being a victim of hi-tech torture and quickly sees it in Raph. Mikey briefly joined their team during his rejection of Splinter’s role leading the Foot, but left. Despite his animosity with Hob, might Raph be more receptive?
