The Flash unleashes Reverse-Flash’s true plans in latest episode
The Flash finally explained what Reverse-Flash’s plan was throughout season 5, and it’s deadly. Spoilers are ahead.
The Flash tried to hint viewers at a changed Reverse-Flash, who seemed to genuinely care about Nora West-Allen and took her under his wing in 2049. They worked together and it’s what caused the tension between Nora and her father Barry Allen, including learning the other, darker speed force.
Iris even tried to convince Barry that Eobard Thawne was a changed man. Barry lightened up, reluctantly, but as “The Girl With the Red Lightning” showcased Tuesday, this was still the same man who killed Nora Allen nearly two decades ago.
Cicada’s dagger existed in 2049, where Thawne was imprisoned, so he could not use his speedster powers. However, he always wanted to help Nora defeat Cicada and destroy the dagger.
Well, there was a reason for Thawne’s desire: destroying the dagger frees him before a death sentence, thus his manipulation of Nora to eliminate it in 2019, so it will have not existed 30 years later. The dagger dampens a metahuman’s powers. Without it, the long-running Big Bad of The Flash can return to his usual ways.
This is obviously bad news for Team Flash, who not only have to encounter Thawne but Cicada in the season 5 finale. Two villains who have killed others before, with the citizens — especially metahumans — all in danger unlike anything before.
So “Legacy” could have a groundbreaking impact on The Flash. Unfortunately for the characters, this may result in someone’s death, as two blood-seeking antagonists are on the loose. Team Flash is full of metahumans, as well, putting any of Barry, Nora, Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon or Ralph Dibny at risk.
Everything is at stake, and the season 5 finale on Tuesday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET will carry out events that will linger with viewers for the summer season.
