Cloak and Dagger season 2, episode 7 review: Vikingtown Sound

Cloak and Dagger trudges on with its seventh episode of the season, “Viking Sound,” and the theme this week seemed to be kidnapping.

On tonight’s episode of Cloak and Dagger, not only did Tandy get held captive by Andre Deschaine, but Conners was shanghaied by none other than Tyrone’s mom, Adina. Much like every other episode of the show, this demonstrates a juxtaposition between two points of view, yet it was much more subtle in “Vikingtown Sound.”

As mentioned before, there were two kidnappings that can be compared to one another in Tandy and Conners’. Tandy was, of course, taken by the central villain of this season, and Conners was taken by Tyrone’s apparently resourceful mother.

However, the reasoning was much different. Tandy was taken to inflict pain and feed Deschaine’s powers, while Conners was taken to right a wrong and give Adina closure. There were a lot of different aspects of tonight’s episode, so let’s get into unloading it all.

MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER – “Vikingtown Sound” – Adina is pushed to a dangerous edge as she looks to get answers and closure for her two boys. Meanwhile, Tyrone comes in contact with a mysterious figure on his search for Tandy. This episode of “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” airs May 9 (8:00-9:01 p.m. EDT) on Freeform. While most viewers fully expected Tandy to take down Andre’s operation from the inside and free all the girls, that turned out to be a lot harder than originally anticipated. Deschaine’s brainwashing has kept all of the girls happy in their servitude, and even Tandy succumbed to his mind games for a brief time. Luckily, Tyrone showed up just in time, and Tandy regained her hope to summon her piercing daggers and fight back against the human trafficking operation.

Conners’ Redemption

A few episodes ago, every fan would have loved to see Conners meet an untimely end but, now, it seems he has genuinely reformed himself. Sure, he tried to get to a knife to break free, but who wouldn’t? Conners still cares about self-preservation, but he also want to help Adina find closure with her son’s death, and he succeeded in doing so.

Questions for the Future

  • What happened to Tyrone at the end of the episode?
  • Will Adina bury her fallen son?
  • Will Conners help her, escape, or die?
  • Is Mayhem not a villain after all?
  • Will Andre become a god?
