Foreigner’s as Cold as Ice!

Meanwhile, the efforts of the Daughters of Liberty may be paying dividends by other means. Sharon Carter managed to bluff the Kingpin into giving up the international assassin Foreigner as behind Cap’s frame job. This led their mysterious new member, “the Dryad,” to act against Foreigner’s cabal of hit-men, “the 1400 club.” Enough safe houses and minions have been destroyed to rattle Foreigner enough to call Aleksander Lukin, suspecting a betrayal.

To say that Lukin is irritated is an understatement. After all, he’s a Russian oligarch who once successfully killed Captain America and usually plays host to the Red Skull’s consciousness. He has more to do than be threatened by a D-list Spider-Man villain! So instead he turns to his two reliable minions — Crossbones and Sin! The Neo-Nazi lovers have long worked for the Red Skull, and likely see the return of Lukin as the rise of the “true” Skull, rather than the clone who has been running around Uncanny Avengers.

Considering writer Ta-Nehisi Coates is picking up on plot threads from Ed Brubaker’s run, it may be jarring for fans of that run to see Sin. From 2005-2012, Sin went from a sociopath spoiled brat to being disfigured akin to the Red Skull and truly living up to being his daughter out of wedlock. She even became the new Red Skull and helped headline the crossover event Fear Itself. Unfortunately, there seems to be no place for “less pretty” lady villains, and her face was mended by the Cosmic Cube in 2016’s Captain America: Steve Rogers No. 2. Talk about a regression!
