The Pull List: Comic books you should read this week (May 15, 2019)
By Abel Loza
There are a lot of comic books that come out every week, and it can be hard to try to navigate the waters to try to find something new, or for a first-time reader, try to find a good starting point.
It’s a big Marvel week, as War of the Realms is starting to hit its stride. DC isn’t too far behind, with two big comic books coming out this week as well.

Giant Man No. 1
Writer: Leah Williams
Artist: Marco Castiello
In what has been one of Marvel’s best events in recent memory, War of the Realms has spilled over to the Ant-Man/Giant-Man universe. As the Avengers are busy trying to take down Malekith and his army composed of the eight realms attacking earth, Freyja has asked Giant man to help the cause by taking on the Ice Giants in the newly acquired territory of New Jotunheim: Florida. If we know anything about Florida, we are due to an exciting tie in issue

Amazing Spider-Man No. 21
Writer: Nick Spencer
Artist: Gerardo Sandoval
This is the epic conclusion to the Hunted arc, as Spidey finally takes on Kraven the Hunter to try to put a stop to his evil plan. Writer Nick Spencer was born to write Spider-Man as his run thus far has been fun to read, and is the best Spider-Man title out right now. It is a shame that this will probably be the last appearance of Kraven for a while, but let’s hope that he becomes a more integral part of the Spider-Man story, or of any other story in the Marvel universe.
Batman No. 71
Writer: Tom King
Artist: Mikel Janin
Thomas Wayne is going to finally show himself to Bruce in Batman No. 71 and we don’t know who that will ultimately benefit: Bruce of Bane. We learned in the last issue that Thomas Wayne has come to this timeline to prevent Bruce from every becoming Batman in the first place. Writer Tom King has recently teased that in Batman No. 75, he will change the character in a way that will affect him for generations to come. Those seeds will either be planted are have already sprung in the issue this week.

American Carnage No. 7
Writer: Bryan Hill
Artist: Leandro Fernandez
After being found out he was an undercover FBI agent, Richard is now at the mercy of Jennifer and her dad’s white nationalist group. American Carnage No. 7 doesn’t seem to be a mini-series, thankfully, and is a full fledged run, due to this issue being previewed as the start of a new arc. This would be a good point to start reading this book, as it is consistently one of the best books that come out monthly, but you would be doing yourself a disservice by not catching up and reading the previous six.
War of the Realms No. 4
Writer: Jason Aaron
Artist: Russell Dauterman
If you’re going to read Giant Man No. 1, it’s a safe bet that you will probably be reading the main War of the Realms title as well. In this issue, Captain America and his team will now have to make sure that the ace in the hole, Thor, is up to par as he is the only one who can stop Malekith and his army of dark elves and ice giants. The world is in the middle of full out war versus Malekith’s army and Jason Aaron’s writing has made this one of the bets Marvel crossover events in recent memory.
